Guitarist Doug Schmolze to perform at EPOCH

Location: EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne

PITTSFIELD—On Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m., EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne will host a performance by classical guitarist and vocalist Doug Schmolze, a faculty member at the Berkshire Music School. This performance is free and open to the public. EPOCH at Melbourne is located at 140 Melbourne Road.
 
Schmolze is a trained classical guitarist, composer and voice specialist, and his special interest is performing as a solo tenor. He studied at the Berklee School of Music, and has performed with the Berkshire Choral Festival, Berkshire Opera, Cantilena Chamber Choir and Crescendo Chorus of Lime Rock, Conn. Barn Babies to Visit EPOCH of Norton

NORTON—Barn Babies, a traveling petting zoo, will visit EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Norton, 184 Mansfield, Ave., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8. EPOCH Presents Four-Part Super Prevention Series for Seniors

Location: EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place

CHESTNUT HILL—EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, 615 Heath St., will host a Super Prevention series. This is the second of a series of four presentations that will focus on a specific muscle group and exercises to train muscles to improve balance and prevent falls. All presentations will be held in the EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place cinema. Presentations include:

  • “Defend Your Back,” Wednesday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m.

Presenter Adam Poock is a physical therapist and massage therapist who specializes in pain management and athletic training. He will discuss the effects of aging on the body and demonstrate exercises that isolate muscles to help prevent falls. Poock’s presentations are free and open to the public. BREWSTER—Local jazz musician Ken LeRay Badger will perform at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Brewster, 873 Harwich Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Badger’s performance will include patriotic favorites as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11, 2001. PITTSFIELD—An Alzheimer’s support group will meet Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at EPOCH Assisted Living, 140 Melbourne Road. This group meets the third Wednesday of each month and is open to families, friends and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s and other memory-related diseases. EPOCH Forming Team for Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

CHESTNUT HILL— EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill is forming a team to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone is welcome to join the EPOCH team or make a donation. The walk will begin and end in Canal Park at the CambridgeSide Galleria in Cambridge, Mass. Contact Matt MacDonald at 617-243-9990 for more information. The Memory Walk is the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature event to help those coping with Alzheimer’s disease. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $260 million for Alzheimer’s research and services. The Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research, is dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
