This week at EPOCH: Writing, crocheting and more

This week at EPOCH, we will host both fun events and great learning opportunities. We will host another poetry workshop led by Brown University instructor Rick Benjamin. This is a great opportunity to exercise your creativity and receive good feedback on your work. You’ll definitely want to stop by for the seminar, “What If…” which will teach you the importance of and tips for putting your personal affairs in order. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to crochet, you’ll have the opportunity to take classes at EPOCH this month. Finally, movie lovers won’t want to miss film critic Dan Kimmel’s discussion of “The African Queen.” Keep reading for more details!

EPOCH hosts events for book worms and Big Band fans

With the high temperatures winding down, we suddenly feel like cozying up to a cup of coffee and a good book. So if a relaxing afternoon is what you need, join us at East Side for book club or Blackstone for a chat with a budding author. Or, if you’d rather stay warm by working up a sweat on the dance floor, take a trip to Melbourne for an enthralling big band performance or back to Blackstone for an intimate jazz concert.

EPOCH book club to discuss ‘Million Dollar Mermaid’  

PROVIDENCE—The book club at EPOCH Assisted Living on the East Side will discuss “Million Dollar Mermaid, an Autobiography” by Esther Williams on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. Williams is a former competitive swimmer and actress who rose to fame during the 1940s as the star of MGMs “Aqua Musicals.” Participation in the book club is free and open to the public. Plenty of piano and a dash of drama at EPOCH this week

If you’re looking to have some fun in the Providence, RI area this week, then head over to one of our communities for a variety of exciting performances. Reminisce on the days when the rat pack ruled at East Side where Pianist Jack Craig will channel former collaborator Dean Martin. For a more traditional take on the keys, visit Melbourne to watch classical pianist Karen Tchougourian. Or if acting gets your attention, stop by Norton for unique performance by historical re-enactor Pat Perry. Come on by!

Historical re-enactor Pat Perry visits EPOCH of Norton

NORTON – EPOCH Assisted Living of Norton will welcome Pat Perry, a longtime historical presenter and re-enactor, for a unique event called “Under the Petticoats” on Wednesday, August 15 at 2:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
