EPOCH volunteer in Providence donates winnings to Alzheimer’s Association

When Bob Desrosiers won an “I Make a Difference” award for his volunteer efforts at EPOCH Senior Living on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, he vowed to give the $250 cash award from Positive Promotions, a national organization, to the Alzheimer’s Association.

This week, Bob handed off the check to thankful representatives of the Rhode Island Alzheimer’s Association chapter, Camilla Farrell and Bella Garcia. Improv for Alzheimer’s patients – what do you think?

The number of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related illnesses continues to grow. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates that by 2050, there could be as many as 16 million individuals with Alzheimer’s in the United States.

Such numbers have inspired a slew of resources for individuals, caregivers and families, from blogs and websites to a wave of memory-related health care experts weighing in on the best care for these individuals.

New program for Alzheimer's sufferers: Early Stage Walking Program

The Alzheimer's Reading Room is a great resource for information on Alzheimer's an other memory-related illnesses. They recently posted a blog about a pilot program focused on Alzheimer's sufferers and their caregivers called the Early Stage Walking Program.
