Leslie is a proud member of the EPOCH team, and has been for 8 years. She works at EPOCH as a certified medical technician, or CMT for short, and has been working as a CMT for 17 years. Leslie took a moment to talk about her career at EPOCH, the residents she cares for, and more.
What do you like about working at EPOCH?
I really love it here, especially the way they treat their staff. Some time ago I took another job at a community closer to my home, but I left after just two weeks and came right back to EPOCH. Here you aren’t an employee, you’re really a team member. It means a lot to me that I’m a part of the team. There’s also a lot of respect among the team members here, which is very important. The residents are also so wonderful – they really mean so much to me. I know them pretty well. Where I’m from, we have a special respect for the elderly. We treat them the way we want to be treated. I think I have a special approach with them.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I moved here from Haiti about 25 years ago. My family lives in Connecticut now. I have three boys, but the youngest, who is 15, is the only one still living at home.
What’s your fondest memory of your time at EPOCH?
Once I was sick and couldn’t come to work. One of the residents who I know well was asking for me. After she asked for me several times, they finally gave her my phone number so she could call. She called me up at home and asked if I was okay and if I need anything. She even offered to come to my house to help take care of me. It was so sweet.
