Events for seniors: poetry, history and music at EPOCH

How’s your spring going? If you’re like many others, the warm weather probably has you ready to get up and go, so make EPOCH a stop on your list. Check out the events we have happening this week, from poetry workshops to music to historical discussions. Stop by!

Brown’s Benjamin delivers poetry workshop for seniors (May 7)

PROVIDENCE—The public is invited to join EPOCH Assisted Living on the East Side for a poetry workshop led by Brown University instructor Rick Benjamin on Monday, May 7, at 3:30 p.m. Benjamin is a poet who teaches part-time in the English and Education departments and also works in community service through the Rhode Island Service Alliance. Boylston Place hosts discussion on the Titanic (May 9)

CHESTNUT HILL – EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, 615 Health St., will welcome the knowledgeable Gary Hylander for a presentation on the Titanic on Wednesday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. This event is free, but space is limited. EPOCH of Sharon hosts musician Rick Olsen (May 10)

SHARONRick Olsen will perform at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Sharon at 259 Norwood St. on Thursday, May 10, at 2:30 p.m. Known as the “Man of a Thousand Songs,” Olsen’s repertoire includes popular standards, music from the 1950s through the 1980s, country, Irish and more. The Eagles Big Band to perform at EPOCH (May 12)

PITTSFIELDEPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne will host a musical performance by Pittsfield’s The Eagles Big Band, Berkshire County’s oldest continuous performance ensemble. The performance is free, open to the public and will be held at EPOCH on Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. The Eagles’ Stage Band group, one of the Eagles many groups, will perform. Formed in 1936, the Eagles Band is sponsored by the Public Arts Resource Center. Named the “official band of Pittsfield” in the 1990s, the band regularly performs throughout the region.
